Join Kristina Lester, Nurse Practitioner at University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center, MSN, APRN, FNP-BC, FNP-C, Ursuline College, and Collaborative to End Human Trafficking’s Program Coordinator, Jasmine Myers, MSSA, as they discuss trauma-informed practices in health care settings. We recognize the importance of equipping health care professionals with the tools and information to adequately provide trauma-informed services to individuals that have experienced Human Trafficking.
Recent data showed that 88% of Human Trafficking victims had contact with health care professionals during their exploitation and survivors are reporting that access to quality, trauma-informed medical services is within the top 10 needs they currently have. This training will discuss the impact of Human Trafficking with valuable insights from our Survivor Advisory Council and their experiences. It will provide a holistic picture of the effects trauma has on a trafficked individual, and will equip health care providers with trauma-informed interventions. The presenters will walk through two trauma-informed approaches that have been identified as best practices.
